scentsy obsessed

have you all heard of scentsy?

D's sister bought us a warmer & wax as our wedding gift (which I was just able to unpack yesterday)- and i am OBSESSED. they smell SO good & are so easy to use.

its basically just a warmer (light bulb & plugs in) that melts the wax and smells wonderful for much longer than a candle or incense. the wax comes in little bricks and they last for a long time!

because i'm so obsessed i need more bricks asap! my issue is that i don't know anybody that sells scentsy so i was going to see if any of y'all knew a friend/blogger that sells? i could randomly find someone on the web but i'd rather support someone i 'semi/kinda know'.

progress. kind of.

look what arrived yesterday!

LOVE IT. i've sampled 3 of the flavors already this morning and i'm happy to report:

• they're all very tasty
• i feel like a meth addict i'm buzzing around the house. slight. caffeine. overdose.

home sweet home.

this is what our house looked like 2 weeks ago. i'm happy to say the boxes have cleared {somewhat}. but our 2nd shipment arrives Monday and i'm afraid its going to right back to this. it gives me anxiety just thinking about it. d gets back at the end of the month and i really want the house to be finished and feel like a home for him- cross your fingers that i can accomplish that in 4 days.

for those of you that asked/emailed me about katie's famous goat cheese bruschetta:

1. slice french bread into 1 1/2 inch slices, coat with a thin layer of olive oil & broil.
2. mix 3 tomatoes and 1 1/2 onion finely chopped with 1 1/2 teaspoon of basil in mixing bowl
3. fill bowl to top of mixture with balsamic vinaigrette
4. spread layer of goat cheese on toasted bread & add spoonful of mix on top

voila!

SO GOOD & SO EASY!

holy smokes ya'll...

i got busy in the kitchen.

yes. cooked. in. the. kitchen.

its not secret i really a) am not good at cooking & b) am semi scared by potlucks (seriously- they stress me out).

but i conquered my fears yesterday with katie's famous goat cheese bruschetta and it

was SO GOOD.

even better- people at the dinner party ATE THEM. i kept telling myself if nobody touched them it meant i was an awful cook and was buying packaged macaroni salad from here on out.

a small pet peeve

i'm not even sure i should call this a pet peeve. it should be more like 'rude people piss me off.'

it is never appropriate to ask married woman if her husband and herself are trying for children. my mind skips the whole baby topic and it sounds like "how often are you having sex? are you tracking ovulation? make sure not to drink anymore."

the above is especially true if you are a random woman at the beach.

hating on d's old girlfriend

dans old girlfriend our car arrived to the island yesterday.

i'm going to be honest about how i feel about the car.

i hate it.

i just had a long conversation

with katie yesterday and i'm convinced this car is jealous of me because i am now the #1 in d's life when for a period of time she was.

basically this car is stick shift so whenever i drive it i make a fool of myself so i'm convinced it hates me {for those of you out there that believe the glass is always half full yes I am grateful we have a car. but still. nobody likes stalling 4 times just to get to the grocery store}.

also: as soon as dan gets back we need to go dining room table shopping... because last night on the floor was just sad!

OH and for the record, I also strongly dislike d's REAL ex-girlfriend. :)

newest showtime addiction

i love nancy botwin.

i've been re-watching from season 1 getting ready for the premier of season 6th august 16th on showtime :)

if you haven't watched (and aren't offended by sex scenes, drug use, etc. in television aka Dan- he hates this show for those reasons) i highly suggest it. i've got tv-add and hate the hour long shows, so love that these are all 30 minutes long. i promise that you too will fall in love with nancy botwin!

in other news i'm still in the first 30 pages of captivating. surprised?

what I'm reading...

Captivating by John & Stasi Eldridge.

I'm only a few pages in, but I've heard wonderful reviews about this book for years and finally am giving it a try. Honestly its a little hard to get into at first- but luckily I'm one of those weirdos that once I start a book I MUST finish it {ah a twilight recap: hated it so much I wanted to throw it in a fire so I wouldn't have to finish it!}. If any of ya'll have read it i'd appreciate your input/reviews.

I got to talk to D for the first time since he's been gone last night! He sounded great and I got a little teary when I heard his voice {i know i should get a grip its only been like 2 weeks}. Not sad tears- just happy tears to hear his voice.

today I am going with some new friends {military wives}

up to the north shore for an art festival and then snorkeling. both ladies are really nice and have been so welcoming & sweet to me {the newbie}

and for that I am very blessed.

also: something that made me feel much much better:

skyping with bff k. like things haven't changed at all.

{you probably cant see but yes i am in a bathing suit. i don't wear real clothes anymore}

new coffee maker!

the kitchen in our new house it exceptionally small.

{creeper picture dan took of me but shows how small the kitchen is also my flabby arms because i've been avoiding yoga class. awesome.}

i'm a bit OCD about my counter space i knew i wanted to pitch our old school mr. coffee pot, and really wanted a tassimo. but then i found this beauty:

which matches our stainless steel theme throughout the kitchen. dan isn't much of a coffee drinker and i try to stick to just one cup a day, there's no reason for me to make a whole pot every day. i just ordered it from BB&B online (thank you hawaii for the $20 shipping) and it should be here next week!

reason #3294875 why I hate acrylic nails

...when one of them breaks I go OCD and cut the rest of them down.

I look a little ghetto today:

I can't decide if I want to have them completely taken off, or if I should just get short gel painted ones. The lady at the salon said that was "very new" and they didn't recommend it. But I see everyone on here getting them? I might have to start the trend here....

and HOLD THE PHONE YA'LL we got INTERNET! I am officially online and not sucking the wifi out of starbucks (or any unlocked connections I could find...oops).

silica anyone?

Really important world problem here: ever since moving to Hawaii my hair feels like straw. I've heard silica is great for your hair & picked some up at the store the other day. Has anyone tried this? Anything else you've tried that works? Advice much appreciated by my pouffy frizzy hair!

a- to the ladies that commented on my post yesterday thank you so much- it really means a lot to know other women have gone through the same experience & I'm not totally alone. it felt wonderful to just get that out!

b- D man left today :( I know compared to a lot of the military bloggers out there this is a SUPER short 'deployment' but sad/lonely for me without family, friends, etc. here with me. at least once we get internet (countdown is at 7 days lord help me) I can video chat with my BF Katie and feel a little more at home.
